The Fire Place provides professional chimney and fireplace services, including sweeps, inspections, maintenance, and repairs. We also install wood, gas and pellet stoves, inserts, and vents.
Chimney Sweep Services
“Out of sight, out of mind” is a dangerous reality when it comes to appliances like stoves and fireplaces. Regular chimney sweeps are essential to maintaining the safety of your home. In fact, chimney buildup and lack of proper maintenance is a leading cause of preventable house fires. Luckily, routine chimney inspections and sweeps can mitigate this risk and provide peace of mind. We’re here to help sweep away your chimney worries and provide all the chimney sweep services you’ll need to preserve the longevity of your chimney and make your heating appliances that much safer.
Our chimney sweep services begin at the top of the chimney and we work our way down, clearing out soot and debris that accumulate with regular use of your fireplace and stove. Our trained fireplace technicians take before and after photos, as well as internal photos of your ventilation system, to identify possible problem areas. All sweeps include brushing out the appliance and removing all fireplace ash and debris. Our team works hard to ensure the mess from your chimney does not end up in your house.
Chimney & Fireplace Inspections
Identifying potential problems before they become hazardous can be the difference between a routine house call from The Fire Place and a visit from the fire department. Our mission is to help keep your vent systems safe by providing thorough chimney inspections that ensure the safety of your home and family. According to the National Fire Protection Association all chimneys, fireplaces, and venting systems should be inspected yearly by a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep.
The Fire Place provides residential and commercial fireplace inspections, including real estate inspections before the sale or purchase of property. We conduct level 1, level 2, and level 3 inspections for all wood, gas, and pellet burning appliances. Inspections begin at the foundation and basement and extend through the home, attic, and above the roof. Our technicians are trained to inspect all types of fireplaces, including freestanding stoves, and inserts attached to different types of chimneys and vents. After every inspection, we provide a detailed inspection report with photographs, so you have a clear picture of your chimney’s health.

Inspection Levels
There are three different levels of inspection, classified by the National Fire Protection Association, correlating with the intensity and frequency of inspection. The level of inspection needed for a chimney and ventilation system is determined by the circumstances and condition of your system.
-
A level one inspection is the most common type of inspection for homes where the chimney is easily accessible and the chimney and venting system will be maintaining their current use. The CSIA certified technician checks creosote levels and looks for flammable debris and obstructions that could become hazardous to the health of the chimney or potentially cause a fire.
-
When there’s a sale or transfer of a property or a new appliance is being installed, a level 2 inspection is required. Essentially, all accessible parts of the basement, attic, and all vents in between are inspected for functionality and possible hazards. Changes in fuel types also trigger a level 2 inspection, as well as events where any part of the chimney system may have been damaged. Sometimes these inspections will include performance tests as well as visual inspections, to make sure the chimney is in good, safe working order.
-
If something comes up during a level one or two inspection and a potential hazard is found or suspected, a level 3 inspection may be necessary. A level 3 inspection entails looking at the concealed portions of the chimney and flue, ensuring proper construction, and checking that there are no issues that aren’t readily visible. This type of inspection typically follows an incident where the chimney may have sustained damage or if a tech notices something that could be hazardous.
